Preface
I love natural and rustic materials and am fond of architectural design, so to cherish these things, learning from nature is my design concept. To me ,a house is a world.

宜宾是长江上游开发最早、历史最悠久的城市之一,古称“僰道”、“戎州”、“叙州”,素有“西南半壁古戎州”的美誉。
初到宜宾,看到漫山竹海、极目青翠,就只惦记着在这“古戎州”里,造一个“竹”的世界。可隐于竹海里,融竹之十德、煮一壶清茶,追“耳濡清风徐来意,目及竹浪起伏时”之意。
Address
Yibin is one of the earliest and oldest cities on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and was called "Bo , "Rongzhou" and "Xuzhou" , aiso well-known as the Southwest Half Wall Ancient Rong State.
The first time I arrived at Yibin, I saw bamboo all over the hills, truly an impressive bamboo forest in southern Sichuan. Since then , I dreamt of building a world of bamboo in Southwest Half Wall Ancient Rong State, where I can make a pot of tea melting bamboo , hear the wind coming and see the bamboo waves rising and falling, which I know will be incredible.

有了以“竹”建筑的想法后,我寻遍宜宾,没能寻得把竹材作为材料应用主体的空间。再放眼国内竹类建筑、室内空间,以及竹材加工生产企业。这个过程中,我收集了很多国内外关于竹材设计、加工、应用的资料,学习到不少关于竹的知识。但我也发现,大部分与竹相关的设计,多是浅显于“竹”的传统用法,少见大面积运用到室内的做法,也不见以“竹”为主题的设计诠释。
Seeking
With the idea of building with bamboo, I looked all over Yibin but didn’t find a space in which bamboo is used as a material, and I was giad . After that, I spent much time looking for bamboo buildings , interior space and bamboo processing and production enterprises. I collected a lot of information about the design, processing and application of bamboo both at home and abroad and also gained much knowledge about bamboo.

拾捨·竹里馆的“源”就是竹。自然、质朴、环保,尽量不去破坏自然,尊崇自然——这是我的一贯坚持。我喜欢自然的材料,也想穷竹之本源,一念一舍一世界。
Source
"Source" is the root of all things. Therefore, the root of No.10 Bamboo Lodge is bamboo,which is it’s beginning. My design philosophy is natural, rustic, environmentally friendly, so I will not destroy nature but respect nature, which 's why I like natural materials. I still hold the belief of One thought, one space, one world.
思
我想造一个关于竹的世界。
应该怎么样去表达和建造这个世界?这样的世界能够给客人带来什么样的体验?这个世界是否有足够的人文温度?这个竹之世界有什么能够吸引客人的特点?客人能体验和感受什么、走的时候能带走什么?
……
把美好的想法实实在在地落地,所需要的是一系列专业思考,以及设计者与被设计对象的身份交换。
Thought
I want to create a world of bamboo,but how should I express and build this world? What kind of experience can such a world bring to the guests? Will every guest feel as warm as they do when they come home? Why should guests choose to come to this bamboo world? What can they experience and feel when being here? And what do they take with them when they leave? With all the above questions, I began to think of the solutions.

从专业角度来说,很多酒店、民宿都大同小异,只在解决墙、地、顶六个面的装饰,这些店只能“泯然众人”,是没有个性的流水线产品。我要从这样的思考模式中解放出来,着眼解决空间问题,而不是钻装饰问题的牛角尖。
“我想建造一种‘表皮’,来表达空间的概念。而大脑意识下的‘装饰’,为了将每个空间的具体部位,比如地面、墙面、吊顶区分开,往往都会惯性地选择相应的材料,总是想把每个部位处理得干净利落,来彰显这是思考下出来的结果,然而这样的装饰是为了掩盖那个已经“死去”的内核,反而显得很僵硬,不自然。我想把自己从这样的产物中解放出来,重新构筑一种表皮,就像人或动物、植物一样,都拥有自己的表皮,反而自然、开放和柔软一些。”(隈延吾《我所在的地方》)
我将竹材加工成片状、条状和板状,加工后的竹材都经过高温蒸煮、石灰水浸泡,以达到防虫、防腐和防霉的效果,之后,再结合阻燃处理。加工过程中,为追求环保,尽量避免油漆。
我尝试仅通过竹材不同的肌理质感来表达空间。客房内部以竹条、竹片、竹皮三种不同的材料肌理,搭建成拱形的竹编,形成每个空间独一无二的表皮。过道顶面以原竹构筑,追求一种时空的“错乱”——是漫步在竹海、还是停留在“拾捨”?大厅楼梯间以竹编造型,灯光将光影投射在墙上,像是竹海里被打碎的阳光。
整个设计更像是一个竹材的产品设计。建筑设计过程中找到了一种新的竹材运用方式。希望能够通过这样的思考与呼唤,为竹子这一自然、环保、再生能力强的材料,找到一个焕发新生的机会。
拾捨·竹里馆的设计框架十分现代,但在框架的背后,饱含我对于中国传统文化的理解和坚守。
尊重历史,回归自然。
Realization
Many hotels and air B & B are similar in design, with similar decoration of walls, floors and roofs,with no obvious uniaue characteristics. I need to be free from this kind of decoration to solve the problem of space, not decoration.
I want to build a skin to express the concept of space, witht the decoration connected with the brain’s consciousness to differ the specific parts of each space, such as floors, walls and ceilings. Often the corresponding material will be chosen with the purpose of making every part clean and tidy to show the result of thiss thinking. Often, this type of decoration is to cover up the "dead" core, which, on the contrary, makes it rigid and unnatural. Therefore, I want to free myself from this and rebuild a skin, just as the one people or animals or plants, which I think is natural, open and soft.
I process bamboo into sheets, strips and plates. After that , the bamboo is cooked at high temperatures and soaked in lime water, then dried in the shade naturally to achieve insect prevention, antiseptic and mildew proof. aiso, considering the flame retardant treatment, I will try not to use paint to achieve the effect of environmental protection.
I plan to express space only through the different textures of bamboo. The interior of the room is made of bamboo strips, bamboo skins, like building blocks. Bamboo weaving is arched,forming the unique skin of each space. The top of the corridor is constructed with original bamboo, which is like shuttling through the time tunnel of bamboo forest. Bamboo weaving modeling of hall stairs and the shadow of bamboo cast on the wall with the help of light forms a scene, like the sunlight through the bamboo leaves in the bamboo forest.
The whole design is to be a bamboo product design, which is certainly a new way of using bamboo. I hope to find a new exit for bamboo, a kind of natural, environmentally-friendly and renewable material.
The design of this Bamboo Lodge is very modern ,but behind it , what I want to convey is my understanding and adherence to Chinese traditional culture. In short, we should respect history and return to nature.
